Abilities Team
Awareness that there is support for people with special needs
NCYC is quickly approaching. If you are interested in attending NCYC and have additional needs we are the team for you.
The Abilities Team is here to provide assistance for people with additional physical, intellectual and emotional needs. This team will provide you support around accommodation, dietary requirements, transport, communication and other needs that you identify.
We will meet you at registration. We will have a special space at the main convention site. We can provide companion support to attend specific parts of the program.
When you register, please indicate that you require special assistance and contact the team.
We want you to be able to attend so please contact us at any stage

Hi Lynda.
My son Jeremy is 17. He has a form of Mosaic Down Syndrome and attends Bellevue Ave. UCA in Rosanna, Melbourne. He still attends Croxton Special School during the school terms. Will there be carers available at NCYC if he registers? He does travel independently by public transport, so I’m not sure whether it would be best for him to “live in” or commute. His attention span would probably not cover the whole day. Would it be worthwhile phoning you to discuss further?
Regards,
Bruce

Hi Bruce,
I think it would be best if you could please ring me and we can discuss Jeremy’s needs and ways we can assist him to participate in NCYC.

Lynda
