What is NCYC?
Not Just Another Day…
Well, this is what a typical day at NCYC09 might look like…
BREAKFAST
It makes waking up worthwhile.
COMMUNITY AND SMALL GROUPS
Everyone at NCYC is grouped into Communities - at NCYC09, there will be around 100 people in each community. This is where you’ll sleep, worship in the morning, and where you’ll meet the most people, and make the most friends. Small groups are made up of about 5 people from your community, where you’ll talk a bit about the theme, debrief about the speakers, and review how you’re finding the convention.
TRANSFERS TO MAIN VENUE
Just like a mini road trip, with all your new mates.
WHOLE CONVENTION GATHERING - THEME RALLY
Where the theme for each day gets introduced with all 2000 delegates. It will get straight into unpacking and developing the theme, using drama, video, photography, discussion groups, speakers - and, of course, music! It’ll be an interactive session that will help people explore the theme for the rest of the day.
LUNCH
Food for the soul (and body).
BIBLE STUDIES
Sessions to think more about the theme and what the Bible has to say about it. You can sign up for whatever Bible Study you want - you don’t have to stick with your small group or community. NCYC09 will be pretty similar to Perth’s “streaming” - different sessions will be aimed at different levels:
Surfing, for those just starting out in faith; Snorkelling, for those wanting to go a bit deeper; and Scuba Diving, for those ready to jump in the deep end.
FESTIVAL TIME
The rest of the afternoon will be a place where events are run around the main venue, and you can participate in different areas based on the theme, at your own pace. Anything from a game of soccer, talking to mission and ministry organisations, a chat in a cafe tent, to a challenging debate and some more elective/bible study/speaker time, there will be something for everyone.
There will be three types of events run in half hour and hour long sessions:
• activities (surfing) - sport, art, creative, installations, outings, recreation
• mission mart (snorkelling) - organisations, simulations, reflective spaces, cafe’s and resources
• electives (scuba diving) - key speakers, focus
sessions, debates, hot houses
DINNER
Yum.
WORSHIP
Remember those two thousand other delegates from before? Well you’re going to get back together with them for a worship service, in a different worship style each night. The service will be a place to experience, explore, share and proclaim together.
NIGHTLIFE
Wind up, or wind down, chill out or relax - experience the great NCYC nightlife atmosphere. Bands, food and drinks, reviewing the days events.
TRANSFER BACK TO COMMUNITIES
Just like a mini road trip, just the part where everyone is trying to stay awake.
COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES AND LIGHTS OUT
Sleep optional.
ALSO…
SUBMERGE
This is more than just rhyming with the theme, it’s a day of action. NCYC09 delegates will be given the chance to select a ‘submersion’ into mission and given opportunities to live out their faith in practical action of community service and social justice.
PUBLIC RALLY
A whole convention gathering, with the whole world! We’ll take the NCYC09 party out of the main venue and into the world where thousands of people will come and experience a celebration for the day of action!
AND FOR EVERYONE ELSE…
12-15 PROGRAM
For those just on the fringe of being old enough to come to NCYC09, there will be a program for 12-15 year olds in VicTas and children of volunteer leaders. This will be like a summer camp, and will intersect with the full NCYC09 program at various points, giving a taste of the coolness that is NCYC.
CRÉCHE + CHILDREN’S ACTIVITIES
Because all the adults will be so busy with NCYC09, we’ll be providing a fun-filled minding facility from toddlers to 11 year olds with age-relevant activities. This will only be open to children of volunteer leaders.

It is one of the most amazing experiences in the world. It is a gathering of 20,000 teens in a city where we worship god and just have an amazing time.

My daughter is 16 and excited about coming to NCYC
And so am I.
My wife and I came as an engaged couple to Ballarat in1987 and I went to Sydney in 1981.
I would like to know more about the Adult convention and the Public Rally.
And whether you have need for a volunteer worker during NCYC

There’s nothing wrong with being square…
For me NCYC isn’t just about fun- It’s about deepening and exploring my faith in a supportive environment. It’s about catching up with old friends and making new ones.
The fun is just an added bonus
