The registration price includes the program, accommodation and catering.
So for Budget or Tenting accommodation including catering the cost is $529, for College accommodation including catering the cost is $599.
The only case where the registration price doesn’t include accommodation or catering is the Adult Volunteers’ ‘Own Accommodation’ or the day rates again for Adult Volunteers. For more information on those contact the office (1300 00 NCYC) and we’ll be glad to answer you questions!
Hey..
I was wondering where the accommodation is located exactly? whether its just the suburb or street name.. i’m planning to see friends while in Melbourne and just wanted to see how far away it is from the city..etc.
Thanks
Catherine,
all of the accommodation will be very close to the city, that is, the CBD. the State Netball Hockey Centre itself is right next to the Melbourne Zoo, only like 3 train stops from the city. methinks all of the colleges will be around that area. i live round there, and the suburbs surrounding are, Brunswick (South-West), Parkville and Carlton. There are at least 4 big colleges in these areas.
As ‘Ploy’ says SNHC (which stands for the State Netball Hockey Centre - pronounced ’snack’), is our main venue and where we will be spending most of our days (about 10am - 10pm). The time not at SNHC will be at the accommodation sites - schools located around Melbourne. The suburbs vary but one example is MLC in Kew.
We’ll be pretty busy each day with Community and Small Groups time at our accommodation sites and then lots happening at SNHC with Bible Studies, Whole Convention Gatherings, the Festival time in the afternoon and Worship but one option for catching up with your friends is to invite them along to the public worship on the first evening. Another option is to suggest that they join us for the Public Rally on the evening of Day 4, Tuesday 6th Jan. This Rally will be held at an exciting public space in Melbourne still to be revealed.
Transport arrangements when arriving or leaving NCYC are pretty good and so you should be able to find a way to get to see your friends before you register on the 3rd or after the final worship on the 9th. Those options will be clarifies a little closer to convention if you want more information email Mick and he can fill you in on all things transport related. (mick@ncyc.org.au)
Thanks for the quick responses
Its good to hear that its quite close to the city…
I just wanted to go see the ‘Wicked’ Musical (if its still on) while we were in Melbourne one night..as i’m not sure how long we are staying in Melbourne aside from the 3-9th for NCYC. I’m hoping it would be fine since it is just one night from about 7pm..would we be missing much?
Hey Catherine,
Surely you’d want to see Billy Elliot The Musical instead?! It will have just opened in Melbourne at Her Majesty’s Theatre, and tickets go on sale really soon!
And Her Majesty’s is a very nice theatre… yes, I work there…
Shameless plugs aside, I should also add that there are a tonne of things to do in Melbourne before and after convention, but why would you want to leave the convention half way through? You wouldn’t want to miss the evening worship services with all 2000 other delegates there, or nightlife afterwards…
Stay back in town for a tour afterwards, but I’d really highly recommend staying for the full program. You start missing out on things otherwise… We’ll have info online shortly about tours that some other churches and synods are running. Maybe some tours could put a night out at the theatre to see a tap-dancing boy in their program? (Yes, that’s a MASSIVE hint for any tour leaders out there!)
Hi Maratja,
NCYC09 will take care of all your transport needs from the moment you arrive at SNHC. This is all included in your registration!
Most transit will be buses that get you from accommodation to SNHC, and back again. All you need to do is work out how to get to Melbourne!
Hello,
I realise that the cut-off date for NCYC is closing very soon - just wondering whether there is any budget or college accomodation left. Also what is the difference between them both?
The difference between Budget and College is about the bed and the price. In the cheaper budget option, you will need to bring along your mattress and sleeping bag (or other linen) and you’ll be camping on the floor or a school classroom with your other budget campers. For College we will provide the bed in a room at a school boarding house and you just bring your linen. (Please note that rooms aren’t necessarily single rooms in College.)
Hi, I’m in the budget accommodation and I’m just wondering what I should bring in terms of bedding, e.g. sheets, pillow etc. Also, on the 3rd January do we just go to the registration venue and then we will be provided with transport to our accommodation? Will we get an email beforehand about where our accommodation is?
Thanks

We are wondering what the arrangements for transport between the accommodation venues and the SNHC will be in place?
Thanks.
